They say Midwest winters build character, but sometimes the character they build is just a sad, sad girl. "End of Summer" is the first in a series lovingly called Sad Girl Season created in response to my first experience with Seasonal Affective Disorder. Growing up in Florida, I always hated the summer, but Chicago summers are magic and it's hard to let go. When it starts getting dark at 4:30 there's this wistful feeling of holding on to the last bits of warmth and light and ease.
